Jazz and Tap Dance

Umbrella Arts’ staff and guest instructors are high caliber, experienced professionals with national and international performance, choreography, directorial, and educational credit and expertise. It is our privilege and passion to provide a unique, unparalleled and elite training experience for the artistic children of our community!

Introduction to Tap:

Age 6-7

This is a wonderful transition for graduates of our Mighty Movers class! Children learn basic tap fundamentals and terminology at an age-appropriate pace in an encouraging and fun environment! *dancers are encouraged to enroll in Introduction to Ballet to supplement this class

Beginner Tap:

Age 8-11

Dancers learn tap fundamentals, terminology and better understand rhythm and musicality at an age-appropriate pace in an encouraging and fun environment!

*Dancers are encouraged to enroll in Beginner/Intermediate Ballet to supplement this class.

Introduction to Jazz:

Age 6-7

Beginner / Intermediate Jazz:

Ages 8-11

Students must be enrolled in Beginner Ballet.

This high energy class introduces jazz techniques and musicality. Dancers learn the basic steps of jazz: turns, kicks, and leaps. They will discover simple rhythm techniques and expression while enjoying fun and age-appropriate music.

Advanced Jazz:

Ages 12+

Students must be enrolled in Intermediate or Advanced Ballet.

This high energy class explores a high skill set of jazz techniques and musicality. Dancers build upon intermediate level steps of jazz: turns, kicks, and leaps. They learn increasingly difficult rhythms, sequencing and skill progressions.
